Archon Fung delivered talk entitled "Data Driven Public Spaces: From Private to Semi-Public" at a workshop on the Decline and Rise of Public Spaces, Hertie School of Governance, Berlin, Germany. Fall 2008. Archon Fung created and maintained a website called MyFairElection during the 2008 election season that allowed people to rate their voting experience on election day in order to identify any issues or problems with the voting process. David Weil delivered talk entitled “Promise and Pitfalls of Transparency: Insights for the Mortgage Market Crisis” at the Conference on Consumer Information and the Mortgage Market in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Economics. It was broadcast on CSPAN. Watch it. April 10, 2008. Archon Fung delivered "Urban Transparency" Testimony to Boston City Council, Committee on Post Audit & Oversight, Sam Yoon, Chair. February 25, 2008. An online, interactive discussion on transparency with Archon Fung, Mary Graham, and David Weil examined why some transparency policies succeed and others fail based on their recent book. It was sponsored by the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard's Kennedy School. February 11, 2008. David Weil's lecture “Can Transparency Improve Health Outcomes?” given at the Harvard School of Public Health. Winter 2007. Jay Shimshack reviewed the book in Political Science Quarterly. In his comments he says that he suspects the book, "...is destined to become the definitive book in the area, and [he] recommend[s] it to academics commencing or conducting disclosure research, policymakers considering or refining information programs, and decision makers concerned about the impact of transparency on the organizational bottom line."
